What happens when a buyer replies
Three things, in order, and none of them wait for you to notice.
One: the sequence stops
Immediately, and completely. Not the next email, every remaining touch. This is the single most important behaviour in the product, because the fastest way to lose a buyer who has just written to you is to send him the follow up that was already queued.
An out of office does not count as a reply, because it is not one, and a sequence carries on afterwards. A real answer stops it. A dead address stops itself and is never followed up.
Two: it lands in Replies, with the intent suggested
The reply appears in your Replies queue with a plain reading of what the buyer is actually saying: interested, asking for a price, asking for samples or a catalogue, wants a call, not now, not interested. It is a suggestion to speed you up, not a decision, and you can disagree with it in one click.
The reading is done on what the buyer typed, not on the whole message. An earlier version scanned everything including our own quoted sequence underneath, which is full of the words “sample”, “catalogue” and “call”, so a reply could be interpreted back at us from our own copy. It reads the human now.
Three: the conversation becomes yours
The assistant can draft the hand-off in your voice, using your playbook and everything it has learned about how you write. What it will not do is answer a commercial question on your behalf. It never quotes a price, never agrees terms, and never books a meeting without you.
That is not caution for its own sake. A wrong number in a trade quote is not an embarrassing typo, it is an argument about a contract, and the product that lets a model near it is the product you cannot leave running.
When a buyer says stop
They go on your do-not-contact list, and that list is a hard gate rather than a preference. Nothing on it is ever mailed again, by any agent, in any sequence. It also gates what comes in: a list that cannot be checked against it is not imported.
What this means for your week
You do not have to watch for replies, and you do not have to remember which buyer was at which stage. The desk stops the machine and puts the conversation in front of you. Everything after that is the part you were always going to be better at.
Next: Sending small on purpose
Still stuck? Write to hello@oleadesk.com and a person answers, usually the founder, within one business day. Say what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. Inside the app, Settings has a Get help box that sends the same message with the diagnostics attached.
