Cookies

This site sets no cookies until you agree to them. If you said no, nothing of Google’s is on your device. The only thing we store is your answer itself, kept in your browser so we do not ask again. Every page works exactly the same either way, and nothing here is behind a cookie wall.

What we ask for, and why

We ask once, about two things, and the banner names both. Google Analytics tells us which pages people actually read, so we can write better ones. Google Ads conversion measurement tells us whether an advert we paid for brought somebody who went on to subscribe. That is how we find out an advert is not working and stop paying for it. Both set cookies, which is why it is a question rather than an assumption. Say no and neither loads; say yes and you can change your mind any time with the Cookie choices link in the footer, which clears your answer and asks again.

What runs whether you agree or not

One cookieless measurement, Vercel Analytics, that counts the page visited, the referrer and the country, with no identifier that follows you between visits and nothing that could identify you personally. Under UK and EU rules that does not need consent, which is why we chose it and why we have kept it: it is what still tells us anything at all when somebody says no.

What we do not do

No remarketing: we do not build advertising audiences and we do not follow you around the internet with our adverts. Even when you say yes, the permission that would allow that is left switched off. Nothing is sold to anyone, and no third party writes to your device before you have agreed. If we ever want to do more than count a subscription back to an advert, the banner asks about it and this page says so first.

When you subscribe

If you said yes and you complete a purchase, we tell Google Ads that a subscription happened. It is a count, not a name: no email address, no card details and nothing about who you are. We only report it once your payment is actually confirmed with Stripe, so what we count and what we were paid are the same number.

The application is different

OleaDesk the desktop app stores your mail and settings on your own computer. That is local storage on your machine rather than a cookie, and it is the whole point of a local-first product.

If that changes

If we ever adopt something else that needs consent, the banner asks about it and this page changes on the same day. That is how this page came to be rewritten: it used to say we set no cookies at all, and when that stopped being true we changed it rather than hoping you did not check.
